2cup all-purpose flour
1/2tsp salt
1/2tsp baking powder
1cup unsalted butter at room temperature
1cup granulated sugar
1egg yolk
2tsp vanilla extract
1recipe strawberry frosting (get the recipe here)


1. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Set aside
2. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy
3. Mix in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla until well-combined
4. Slowly (1 cup at a time) mix in the flour mixture
5. Form dough into a ball, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 3hr
6. After three hours, preheat oven to 350F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper or sheet liner
7. Roll out the dough on a well-floured surface to about 1/4” thick. Cut 2.5” pieces out of the dough with a biscuit cutter (or cup of about the same diameter). For added decoration, cut mini hearts from the dough. Place on the prepared baking sheets ~1” apart. Repeat with dough scraps
8. Refrigerate cookies on tray for at least 30min to avoid spreading
9. Bake in preheated oven for 10-12min for the 2.5” round circles / 6-8min for the small hearts
10. Cool on baking sheet for 5min and then transfer to wire rack to cool completely
11. Decorate by piping strawberry frosting (we used the Wilton 3 tip for writing and 105, 32, and 70 for design)
