Ingredients

Dough:
1packet (1/4 oz) active dry yeast
1/2cup warm water (110°F)
1/2cup milk
1/4cup granulated sugar
1/3cup (2/3 stick) unsalted butter
1tsp salt
1egg
4cup all-purpose flour (divided)

1/2cup (1 stick) unsalted butter at room temperature
3/4cup brown sugar
2tbsp ground cinnamon
3/4cup chopped pecans
Frosting:
1/4cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter at room temperature
2cup powdered sugar
1tsp vanilla extract
4tbsp hot water

Instructions

1. Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Set aside
2. In a saucepan, heat milk until it bubbles. Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar, 1/3 cup butter, and salt until well-mixed. Cool to lukewarm
3. Pour the combine the milk mixture into a large bowl and add egg, 2 cups of flour, and yeast mixture. Mix well. Add the remaining flour and knead for ~8min
4. Shape the dough into a ball and place in a greased bowl. Turn to coat in oil, cover, and place in a warm area to rise for ~1hr
5. While waiting for the dough to rise, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle the bottom of a 9”x13” pan with two tbsp of the sugar / cinnamon mixture
6. After 1hr, punch down the dough and roll it out on a well-floured surface to 15x9” rectangle. Brush 1/2 cup room temperature butter over the dough. Sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon / sugar mixture. Roll tightly the long way to make a 15” log, pinching to seal edge. Using a serrated knife, cut into 15 slices. Place the slices close together on the prepared pan. Sprinkle with pecans. Cover and let rise for 45min. Towards the end of the time period, preheat oven to 350°F
7. Bake in preheated oven for 30min, until golden in color. Cool in pan while making the frosting
8. Mix together butter and powdered sugar. Add vanilla and 4 tbsp hot water. Drizzle over the cooled cinnamon rolls. Enjoy!
